Practical Experience
Peggy has more than 20 years of experience working in both private and public social service agencies. She maintained a successful private practice for the past six years in Richland, Washington. In this practice, she interacted and learned from the psychiatrist with whom she was associated. He provided weekly seminars for therapists on a wide range of topics related to neurobiology and psychiatric disorders. His reputation for successfully addressing complicated cases and his knowledge of Bipolar Disorder led to Peggy’s interest and specialty in Bipolar Mood Disorders. She has also developed an interest in Emotion Focused Therapy and is involved in ongoing advanced training in this discipline.
Education and Licenses
Peggy received her master’s degree in social work from the University of Denver. She later received certification by the American Board of Examiners for Clinical Social Work and her psychotherapist license credential, Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. A licensed psychotherapist must complete 36 hours of continuing education every two years for license renewal.
Credentials
Peggy obtained her Board Certified Diplomat credential in 2004. This credential is awarded through the American Board of Examiners in Clinical Social Work. This credential requires 20 hours of continuing education each year for title renewal. (The Washington State Department of Health manages the levels of expertise and renewal process for all active mental health practioners. As levels are reached the preceding levels are designated as inactive.)
